2018 World Cup: Salah provides update on his injury, speaks on Egypt’s chances in Russia

Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah, has provided update on his injury before the 2018 World Cup kicks off on Thursday.

The Egyptian international suffered a shoulder injury in the Reds’ 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid during last month’s Champions League final.

The 25-year-old insists his injury rehabilitation is ‘going well’ as he bids to make himself available for his country at the tournament.

The forward sat through Egypt’s training session on Sunday but did come out into the pitch to greet fans eager to catch a glimpse of the reigning African Player of the Year.

Following the session, Salah provided a promising update on his fitness and also Egypt’s chances at the World Cup.

Salah told reporters, “I’m excited. I am preparing in a very good way for the Uruguay match and things are going well.

“Let’s see what will happen in the coming days. My morale is very good and everything is okay.”

He added, “I can’t predict to what extent Egypt will proceed at the World Cup, but we all have the ambition and hope to go far.

“We will enjoy the atmosphere and the tournament and God willing we will deliver a good performance.”

Egypt face Uruguay on June 15 in their first group game, before playing the host, Russia, and Saudi Arabia in their final group game on June 25.
